Fancy a day in the city? Stavanger’s harbour, museums and shopping streets are all within walking distance of one another.
Museums for the whole family
Discover life offshore and Norway’s oil history at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. In Old Stavanger, IDDIS shows how sardines were canned and their colourful labels printed.
Shopping in the city centre
Browse independent shops and look for small gifts around Fargegata, or head indoors to Arkaden on a rainy day. Check opening hours, especially on Sundays.
Getting there
Without a car: Look for an express boat from Nesheim on Bjergøy to Fiskepiren in Stavanger. Check both journeys before you set off and read the timetable notes about stops that must be booked in advance.
By car: Drive to Helgøy, take the car ferry to Judaberg on Finnøy, then drive on to Stavanger.
